App

Pinip is a dynamic social network designed to allow users to share their favorite places with friends and family effortlessly. The platform provides an intuitive and user-friendly interface where users can post recommendations, discover new spots, and connect with their loved ones through shared experiences and memories.

Challenge

Internet might not always highlight the most relevant recommendations, and the sheer volume of content can be overwhelming. Since the source of the recommendation is often unknown, it’s challenging to assess the suitability and reliability of the recommendations for your specific needs.

Solution
Users will have the ability to view friends’ recommendations on an interactive map, eliminating the need for direct inquiries. This app will include shared maps with friends and real-time location sharing for seamless collaboration. Additionally, users can organize places using custom categories, tags, and personalized recommendations.

How was Pinip App born?

Pinip truly embodied my passion for sharing world’s places.

A project that I founded back in 2018.

Conducted +100 surveys to learn about users, their recommendation methods, pain points, desired features, and privacy worries.

Analyzed competitor apps and market trends to find strengths, weaknesses, and what sets us apart.

Interviewed 20+ users with a diverse group of users to understand their behaviors, experiences, and expectations related to finding, saving, and sharing recommendations, as well as their privacy concerns.

Shaping the idea

Identifying the problem: users struggle to find relevant recommendations online due to overwhelming content and unknown sources.

To solve this, OKRs were defined to create a personalized recommendation

User personas and user stories guided the design, focusing on features like viewing friends’ recommendations on a map.

Sitemap included sections like Home, Map, Recommendations, Categories, and Settings to ensure easy navigation,

User flow and feature prioritization highlighted essential functions, followed by card sorting for intuitive organization.

Testing the experience

Creation of low-fidelity wireframes for key screens.

High-fidelity wireframes are then designed, creating interactive prototypes to simulate user experience.

Proof of Concept was developed, featuring a basic interactive map, recommendations list, real-time location sharing, and custom categories/tags, followed by internal testing.

User testing involves recruiting users, testing prototypes, gathering feedback, and analyzing results to identify issues.

Finally, design and functionality are iterated and refined based on feedback, updating prototypes and further testing to meet user needs.

Making it real

Developed detailed UI designs to ensure a seamless user experience.

Created comprehensive design documentation to guide the development team.

Collaborated closely with developers during the handoff phase to address any questions and ensure accurate implementation.

Designed and specified animations and interactions to enhance user engagement and interface responsiveness.

Conducted design reviews and provided feedback to maintain design integrity.

Ensured that the final product adhered to the original design vision and met user expectations.
